Will my repaired discs look and play like new?
YES! If the disc is repairable, we will bring the read-side back to playing and looking like new again! The
surface finish and optical clarity is guaranteed, however we cannot repair poorly recorded discs, or discs that have foil
damage or other information layer damage since our process does not affect the actual information. Our Process restores the
lasers ability to "view" the information that is pre-recorded.
How long before I get my repaired discs back?
Fast! Most orders are shipped out 48 hours from receipt. Large repair orders may require a couple more days repair time. Since
our repair times can vary from time to time, we do also offer Rush Job Services should you require it. Simply call us to
discuss the options.
Are my discs secure at your site?
Completely! Your discs are protected in our repair area at all times.
Do you warranty your repairs?
Absolutely! We provide a 100% satisfaction guarantee on our repair finishes. The playing side of the disc*
will look and play like 'brand-new', or your money back! *The patented disc repair process we use repairs the bottom (read)
side of the disc by removing scratches with micro-abrasives. We cannot repair disc damage caused by cracks, damage to the
topside foil layer, data damage, or damage incurred during the disc manufacturing process.
How do I pay?
Little Shop of Heroes gladly accepts Interac/e-transfers, Money Order, Cheque or Cash. We will accept checks, however discs are not released until
payment has been verified or the check has cleared.
What happens if I send you a 'defective' or damaged disc for repair?
Some discs with cracks, foil damages, label damages, separating layers, etc. may be beyond repair. If such damage is noticed,
Little Shop of Heroes will return the disc 'as-is' and will not charge a repair fee. If the damage was undetected and a repair was
attempted, the normal repair fee(s) are charged. Little Shop of Heroes is not responsible for damages to discs during the transport
or the repair process.
What if you lose a disc?
We are not responsible for lost discs during transit from or to the customer. The shipping carrier must be notified of any
loss claims within 48 hours of receiving your discs, so check your shipments upon receipt and immediately notify us of any
problems. Additional return shipping insurance may be requested by the customer at the time of ordering.
What are your Limitations of Liability?
Under no circumstances is Little Shop of Heroes liable for the following: (1) third-party claims against you for damages; (2)
loss of, or damage to, your records or data; or (3) economic consequential damages (including lost profits or savings) or
incidental damages even if we are informed of their possibility.
Disc Repair
How do scratches on a disc affect playback?
An optical disc functions under the principal of a laser light being shined onto the reflective surface on the 'read' side of
the disc and returned to a sensor to interpret the information. A scratch in the protective polycarbonate layer of the disc
will alter the path of reflective properties of the laser beam. If the scratch is big enough, the beam is not returned to the
player properly, and a skip or blackout occurs and the disc now has playback problems.
So, DVD's, CD's and Games can be repaired?
Yes! Little Shop of Heroes has the technology that will repair any disc, no matter what the density, back to optic clarity. Little Shop of Heroes uses automated Disc Repair machines. They achieve the lowest cost per disc, produce the best finish and are fast
efficient & reliable. All of that adds up to low cost high quality disc repairs to you with a fast turnaround time.
What types of damage can you repair?
We can repair the most common forms of read side damage quickly and professionally. There are three basic types of damage that
can affect the playback of an optical disc: Read-Side Scratches, Top-Side Scratches, and Foil Dents. Read-Side Scratches are
the most common, and we can even repair deep gouges in the polycarbonate layer back to looking and playing 'like-new'.
Topside Scratches and Foil Dents are not repairable, as the damage is internal to the disc and beyond a resurfacing and
refinishing process.
How do you actually 'repair' a disc?
We use industrial-grade robotic disc repair machines, which accurately removes a minute amount of the damaged polycarbonate
layer with micro-abrasives. The disc is resurfaced to the level of damage received, and then polished back to a shiny new
surface that looks and plays 'like-new'. A perfect flat optically clear finish is produced every time.
How many times can one disc be repaired?
Each disc can be repaired up to 50 times or more depending on how deep the scratches penetrate. The information layer of a CD
is thinner than 1/2 the thickness of a piece of paper. It is stored below the painted side of the disc, leaving approximately
99% clear polycarbonate plastic to protect it from the elements and give the disc form. The laser beam has to see through this
clear plastic coating to read the data. The disc repair process removes a very thin layer of this clear plastic each time,
never coming close to the information.
Can you fix double-sided DVDs without removing the inner circle label?
Definitely! Many disc repair services will 'erase' this information during the repair process because they do not have the
proper equipment to handle these discs. Double-sided DVD's require a different machine & polishing pad configuration. We have
all the latest in technology to insure your labels remain in tact and you can read which side of the disc is 'Standard' and
'Widescreen' after the repair!
What equipment do you use?
We have the most advanced robotic disc repair equipment made. This close partnership keeps us up to date with cutting edge
technology, most of which is not yet available to the public. Additionally we have immediate access to additional equipment,
insuring that we can handle even the largest of jobs. Whether you need to repair 5 discs or 5,000, we have the capacity
available to meet your needs!
